A senior student of Precious Minds Montessori and High School came home to ecstatic welcome of teachers, friends and schoolmates and to warm embrace of her family after emerging the top winner in a national journalism tilt.

Elisha Randee G. Vargas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph A. Vargas, bagged the first prize in editorial writing in English at the recently concluded 2009 National Secondary Schools Press Conference in Naga City, Camarines Norte.

A bemadalled student writer, the young Vargas, “Iyay” to her friends, is likewise consistently on top of her class, and recently hurdled the stringent competitive entrance examination at the University of the Philippines. She intends to pursue a degree in journalism in Diliman next June.
