Espines, a no-show at PPRC induction

IT WAS, INDEED, a night for Pangasinan media practitioners last February 5 at the Stadia in Lucao Distrieavesct, Dagupan City. About 200 newsmen and newswomen attended the induction of the newly-elected officers of the Pangasinan Press and Radio Club and the affair was even more colorful with the presence of Dagupan City Mayor Al Fernandez, Abono Party-list chair Rosendo So, Anda Mayor Nestor Pulido (who is facing suspension from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan), 1st district Board Member Alice Pulido and the guest of honor and speaker, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.

What was noticeable, however, was tpinghe absence of the inducting officer, Gov. Amado T. Espino Jr. His  presence would have made the affair even more exciting, especially because Senator Lacson, a nemesis of La Presidenta Gloria, was around. Of course, we all know that Guv Espines is so close to the La Presidenta, being a member of the KAMPI party.

Viewpoints: Talking about DPWH

By Archbishop Oscar Cruz

DPWH AND CONSTRUCTION, constructors and bidding, collusion and corruption – not to mention special patronage sought from and given by individuals related to powerful public officials – are some of the talking points of recent Senate and House inquiries people watch and listen to with some interests but without much surprise.

Reason: Courtesy of the present administration, corruption has become the flagship expertise of this Country. It is then unbelievable as a matter of fact, if anyone with a sound mind and some knowledge of Philippine realities would even dare say that the many and expensive local public works funded by the Filipinos or foreigners are altogether planned with integrity and done with honesty.

Mayoralty fight in Calasiao

Calasiao Mayor Roy Macanlalay Photobucketis on his last term. According to a supporter, he grooms his son Mark- a municipal councilor – to run for the town’s top post, while Roy recedes to the vice mayoralty.

When I asked the supporter who will be the probable opponent of Mark in the 2010 local poll, he replied that it would be former mayor Celso de Vera.

When I inquired from him what will be the political plan of my good classmate Vice Mayor Ferdinand F. Galang – who has still one term left on his sleeves for the next election?

SY FILES: Rest rooms

By Susan V. Yadao

I WAS ASKED by my publisher-editor to write about CRs  or comfort rooms – or to the more sosyal, rest rooms — and the difference between men’s and women’s rest rooms … anything about CRs. Hmmm … Mabaho-bahong usapin ito, but I have to comply. Grrr!

I don’t know how to start. Never pa naman ako nakapasok ng takubetz  ng mga lalaki. Okey sabi ko, try ko barge in sa  men’s room one time so I can write something or anything about it. Exciting divah?
