VILLASIS- Following the dry run of the anti-littering campaign last January, Mayor Libradita Go-Abrenica said the campaign will now be in full force starting February 1.
Mayor Abrenica said she had already organized Task Force Pangkalikasan to oversee and implement the anti-littering campaign that was embodied in Municipal Ordinance No.90-240511.
“I instructed the task force to implement the ordinance with political will. Those apprehended will have to pay penalties imposed by the ordinance,” she said when interviewed before her travel to Australia .
It will be recalled that prior to the intensified implementation of the ordinance, the municipal government conducted a massive information campaign in all barangays of the town in December 2011. It was dry run for the whole month of January 2012 to give full information to visitors and the townspeople.
“I urged our townspeople, visitors and barangay officials to cooperate with us in the implementation of the said Ordinance. We want a Villasis that is free from litters and must be clean. It should conform with our tagline ‘Sa Villasis, Malinis,’” Abrenica said.
Violators of the ordinance will be meted the following fines and penalties: First offense-P500 or 4 hours of community service; second offense-P1000 or 8 hours of community service and third offense- P2000 or 16 hours of community service.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Paz Sison-Rafanan was the acting mayor from February 6 to February 12, 2012.
In an interview, she said that the Sangguniang Bayan will always be supportive to the Abrenica’s administration.
“It cannot be denied that the transformation of our town has been attributed during their leadership with the support of all employees, Sangguniang Bayan. And our town mates, both here and abroad,” Rafanan said.
