sagalaSM City Rosales hosts the first in Pangasinan Kids’ Sagala as anticipation of the celebration of the Santa Cruzan and Flores de Mayo festivals for this month of May.

Flores, from the Spanish word for “flowers,” also known as Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May), Flores de Maria (flowers of Mary) or alay (offering), may refer to the whole Flower Festival celebrated in the month of May in honor of the Virgin Mary. While Sagala – a religious-historical beauty pageant held in many cities, towns and even in small communities throughout the Philppines on the same month is one of the most colorful May-time festivals in the Philippines which depicts the finding of the Holy Cross by Queen Helena, mother of Constantine the Great. This festival was introduced by the Spaniards in the Philippines and has since become part of Filipino traditions identified with youth, love and romance.

As this event is being held all over the country SM City Rosales aims to uniquely celebrate it with children ages ranging from 4 to 10 years old at the second building’s mall atrium. This is first of a kind celebration here in Pangasinan!

And since the successful launch of Phase 2 of SM City Rosales and celebration of the Grand Opening of the entire mall held last May 15, 2009, its Marketing Team for events has decided to celebrate the mall’s first Flores de Mayo with 12 pairs of cute kids from various municipalities and cities of Pangasinan.

Aside from the parade of the kids with their colorful gowns and in captivating make-ups, the event was culminated by choosing 5 winning pairs.
